Brief flashback on anniversary concert

Neflac celebrated its 5th anniversary with a festive concert on 9th November, in an almost sold-out TivoliVredenburg, Utrecht.

With this concert we wanted
  • to convey the importance that music plays in all our lives
  • to encourage youngsters to take up a musical instrument (and indeed to encourage them to continue!)
  • to put 'playing together' in the spotlight; it not only gives tremendous pleasure and satisfaction to make music together, but sharing music brings it to life!!

If we are to believe the hundreds of enthusiastic messages which have flooded-in, we can call it a success!

It was a big flute party - a MEGA flute orchestra of some 500 players in the seats all around the stage, on stage the Neflac Orchestra made up of Neflac participants from all the the years, the entire Concertgebouw Orchestra flute section, professional players from top Dutch orchestras,  low flute specialists and mini-basses and bassoons! And there were performances of top soloists Roberta Alexander, Niels van Hoorn, Thijs van Leer and Eric Vloeimans. One of the highlights was the world première of Eternal Winds, written specially for this concert by Wil Offermans.
